The Lightweights

I was invited to watch my friend Jacek's band The Lightweights at the Ninth St Pub in La Salle, IL last Saturday, August 18, 2018, and I was permitted to take pictures of the band while they’re playing.

I am excited to take their pictures since I have yet to try taking pictures of a band while performing. There is a  bit of a challenge since the place is bit tight and there will be the crowd that's very close to the stage and it will dark.
Here are some of the pictures I took of the band.

Joshua Long on Lead Guitar and Vocals,  Newlywed Jacek Kaniewski on Drums, Erik Frandin on Guitar and vocals, and Matt Braska on Bass.

Choosing My First Camera

Picking your first camera is nothing short of a challenge.

There are several things to consider. Namely, the brand, the camera features that you'd need, full frame or crop, expandability, usability, and of course, there is always the matter of cost, what can one afford and willing to spend.

Brand Canon, Nikon, Sony, FujiFilm, Konica Minolta, Kodak, and Polaroid are few of the great mainstream brand names when it comes to photography. Note that I only mentioned the mainstream brands of cameras. I did not include the Maserati, Mercedes, Rolls Royce and Lamborghini of cameras. For one, they're insanely expensive.
Having friends with similar interests (and can afford DSLR cameras), I was able to try both Nikon and Canon brands. These are the brands that mainly stood out for me because of their picture quality, versatility and their price point -- not to mention very mainstream.

Nikon vs. Canon Picking your brand of camera is important because this determines the future of your bank acco…

The start of my photography journey

I have long been fascinated with taking pictures. Something about capturing a moment in time and immortalizing it on a piece of paper and be able to say "I took that picture, I was there to witness it" excites me.

My mother was my first fan. I remember going on a trip to Baguio, the summer capital of the Philippines, as a treat for finishing 3rd Grade having the 3rd highest honor in class. She asked me to take a picture of her with the flowers of Burnham Park as the background. Instinctively, I was able to compose the frame properly. We were using a Yashica 35mm camera, and at that time, you will not see the picture until after the film has been developed. When we finally saw the prints, my mom said that I had a talent for photography. I didn't take it seriously because -- yes, she's my mother! From then on, she'd let me take pictures whenever we go on trips.

I did not get my own camera until I was in 5th Grade. My first camera was a 35mm film, Kodak Cameo. Since w…

Hi Friends!

I am glad that you made it here. I moved (well, still moving) my site from WordPress to Blogger! I thought there wasn't a good amount of traffic that my site was getting, so I didn't think that it still warrants a paid service like WordPress. Also, I think it is wiser to use Blogger since it is native to Google -- where I also get my domain.

I will do my best to make my website look and feel the same as before.

Again, thank you for your continued support!

Thank you!
